A diverse artistic practice spanning from video to painted installations.

Her work focuses on private stories, often humorous or idiosyncratic, yet resonating with universal sentiments we can all identify with. Whether observing family rituals or simple tasks like chopping carrots, she explores seemingly mundane themes that reveal much larger power structures and meanings.

The still images are produced as postcards, too. At the back of the postcards appears the poem of Sait Faik Abasıyanık called “ Red and Green” translated by Talat S.Halman.

End of and Era

In this work I rebuilt some of my dreams with the help of photo-collage.

These dreams are for me in a sense very personal but at the same time they belong to the whole universe, they are a part of mythology, religion, culture.

In these dreams the city that I live in is a mixture of İstanbul and Berlin. The photography helps me to show it.

Photo-collages, each 150cm x 112,5cm

Dreams

2011- 2013

In this work I asked my mother and father separately to style me according to their expectations of a daughter.  As my mother turns me into a primary- school aged little princess, my father turns me into a business woman with high-heels and mini skirt.

JUST LIKE THE MOTHER & FATHER

2006

In this work I asked a cook, dentist’s assistant and a cleaning lady to come to my flat in Berlin and stand behind the camera as I’m brushing my teeth, cleaning the window, ironing a shirt and making a salad. They’re invisible but we hear them making judgements, telling me how I do everything wrong. I try to follow their instructions.

Four channel videos, shown simultaneously on monitor with headphones.
