FRAPPANT 2005 Frappant is a curtain made of wall paint. In this work, I wanted to merge the image and the subject of the image into a single entity. The paint and what it represents should not be two separate things. To me, the paint as a material has its own character — it should show nothing more than itself. The wall was covered with plastic wrap, and over the course of about three days, it was repeatedly coated with acrylic wall paint. Once the paint had dried, the plastic could be carefully removed. What remained — the “curtain” — was the paint itself, held up solely by adhesive tape, left hanging on the wall. 320 cm x 380 cm. Acrylic wall paint.
