MAKE UP 2001 The works I had created up to that point were always on the wall. This time, I wanted to create a work where the wall remains what it is. The wall at my workspace in the studio of my class at the UDK, Berlin had been painted many times over the years, which had resulted in a rough surface in some areas. I began repeatedly painting those rough spots with wall paint — always in the same places. Over time, thick bulges formed. I kept trying to cover the rough texture with thick layers of paint. But instead of disappearing, the imperfections grew larger and larger. Just like when one tries to cover up pimples or flaws in general. Acrylic 560 cm x 300 cm
