MY ROOM

In 1999 I moved from Istanbul to Berlin, and for the first time in my life I had my own apartment. It was 28 square meters, a one-room apartment with parquet flooring. I lived and worked there. A year after my move, I began studying at the Udk, Berlin. There, a new workspace was now available to me, which I had to make my own. My Room is the first work I realized at the university and which is intended to reflect the process described above. It is a wall painting that shows the parquet floor of my apartment in its original size. This painting was meant to be easy to realize. It doesn't require any special talent. Nevertheless, an analogy between the parquet and painting became apparent, as it, like painting, covers a surface and beautifies it. Acrylic on wall 700 cm x 300 cm
